Forgein’s Legacy

Many years ago, a pair of spry young men in seventh grade set out to write the next great American fantasy novel. I think we succeeded.

A while back I was reminded that I did indeed, with Tim Thackaberry, write a book once. We hand-wrote it on lined paper, and collected each leaf in what is now a battered and worn blue folder. The two of us would take turns writing; our goal was four pages a day. We’d hand it off between classes in Junior High, making edits to each other’s pages and suggesting plotlines. You can easily see our Wheel of Time influenced young minds spinning their Jordan-esque gears as you read.

Visiting my parents on Thanksgiving I was able to find this treasure, and have typed up some of it over the course of the past few evenings. The novel was 171 wide-and-sometimes-college-ruled pages long, and consisted of a prologue, and nineteen “chapters”. Each chapter was only a few notebook pages long and upon typing each section is very short. I’ll probably be sharing this with you a few chapters at a time, and I hope I don’t keep you waiting too long between sections.

When Tim and I were working on it, the novel never had any sort of working title. If you have any suggestions let me know!

Without further ado (right click to save, I believe),
